Description:

This 1950/60s vintage IWC is powered by the legendary cal 89. There are numerous write ups abt this movement. An extract is provided at the bottom.

The dial is simple and timeless. Check out the nice cursive writing. The dial has aged beautifully into a warm salmon cream tone. The case and crystal are also in good condition. Measures 37mm across with crown. Keeps good time (about 20s/day), winds well.

This is a watch not just from a luxury brand. Not just another shiny new watch from the current series. But a collectable, hard to come by piece with history.

Add this to your omega, rolex, brietling, tudor, tissot, seiko collection!

Self collect at Hume Ave off work or tanjong pagar during work hours.

____________

Abt the IWC cal 89:

If mid-20th century watchmaking has proved one thing, it’s that simplicity and utility have their own inherent kind of beauty. Crafting something that performs one dedicated task well is the ultimate embodiment of the “form follows function” philosophy, and perhaps nowhere is this more apparent than in International Watch Company’s famed Calibre 89 movement and the watches that featured it.

Developed in 1946 by famed IWC Technical Director Albert Pellaton, the Calibre 89 is an extremely accurate, mechanical three-hand movement with central seconds. Building upon the Calibre 83 utilized in the famed W.W.W. watches the company built at the tail end of World War II (colloquially referred to as the “Mk. X”), the Calibre 89 was featured in the Mk. XI pilots watch that first debuted in 1948.
